Record of Rights is the general name for the document establishing who holds land and under what rights. Its local names differ sharply: 7/12 or satbara in Maharashtra and Gujarat, RTC or pahani in Karnataka, adangal in Andhra Pradesh, khatauni in the north. The content is broadly comparable even where the format is not.
