Revenue village
Also called: Mauza, Mouza
The smallest unit with its own land records, which may contain several hamlets.
A revenue village is a defined area with its own boundary and land record, not necessarily a single cluster of houses. One revenue village often contains several inhabited hamlets, and a settlement people know by name may have no separate census entry because it is counted inside a larger revenue village. This is the single most common reason a village cannot be found by name.
