Also called: PIN, Postal Index Number

A six digit code identifying a postal delivery area, not a single village.

The Postal Index Number identifies a delivery area served by one post office. Because that area usually spans a cluster of neighbouring villages, several villages share one code, and a code can occasionally straddle a district boundary. The first digit indicates the postal region and the last three the individual delivery office.
